Looking back,"That was crazy, moment"

i got baptized later in life.

i was around 21, i had left and went out into the world should of listen to my gut back then, but instead i disowned myself and came back into the fold.

before i could get baptized, the elder who studied with me said i needed to get rid of everything that was contaminated by this world: music, books & clothing,everything.

Did anyone ever watch the film "Detroit rock city" with the band kiss ? Remember the scene where the kid hides his kiss records in his mums carpenters record sleeve and she's plays it and hits the roof snapping up the record in anger ! hahaha or when the mums ambush the kiss concert calling them "the Devils music" ! Brilliant , I remember answering the door in a Marilyn Manson t shirt to 2 JW elders from my mums congregation about 16 years ago ... Their faces were hilarious !

I probably won't get back into m.manson just on the grounds that he's a little somber 😉Rock music doesn't have to be depressive or dark man !!

Ha I produced a vast collection of bin liners for the skip containing 100 s of rock/metal CDs , signed collectable albums, t shirts signed at gigs , my scrapbook of gig tickets and signatures from the likes of Alice Cooper to joey Jordanson !

How silly of me, now I have it all on iTunes 😎 And am successfully rebuilding my gig scrapbook ! In the last 2 years I've seen slash, foofighters, pearl jam, bullet for my Valentine , tremonti and awaiting Chris Cornell in April

Just handed in my Disassociation letter

tonight my dl was posted by hand by my husband (a worldly guy).

i had the luxury of being at work distracted whilst he posted it.

i have been baptised for just over 2 years and studied since 2010. i couldn't take it anymore, not just the zealous dislike/disgust for 'people in the world' (this includes my husband and 99% of my family btw) but the obvious.... the investigations into child sexual abuse.

Thanks pandorasbox1914. There are a lot of decent people in my ex congregation but unfortunately no, I don't think they will take any real notice of my departure. For some an intervention , a group of psychologist's and they're own family members walking out wouldn't be enough to undue open their eyes. 😪 That has weighed heavy on me for the last 8 months or so but now I guess it's not my problemo!

Thanks everyone , it's great reading your posts. Today I have been on eggshells wondering how my letter had been received and what text X are flying round the congregation about me. I received a text from the sister who studied with me, we were genuine friends but she will probably have to shun me soon.. She told me how much she loves me and always will and that Jehovah has always used imperfect men to carry out his will. This pushed me further away, does this mean anything goes and that she will be tolerant of all these hideous abuse scandals ? That's a giving the organisation a free pass ! Anyway I did not reply, I made it through the day without tears!

Well done introvert2 I'm pleased for you, you sound like a force to be reckoned with😎Also if we did sign contracts it would be signed in our blood haha.

Hi cold steel, my mum was a witness whilst I was young and my sister and I went along with her until our teens when we went our own way. My mum is no longer a JW , she left recently thank goodness and is supporting me through my transition now (We live in different areas of the country ). I began studying back in 2010 shortly after getting married, I felt a little lost and unsure of life.. low and behold 2 witnesses came to my door and by Dec 2013 I was baptised. The last year has been awful, people in my congregation have stepped up the mania, every discussion revolves around ' this system ending' I began lying to people because I was made to feel bad about going away for weekends with my husband and missing a Sunday meeting... It's like everything I did and said was scrutized even my music choices, having a beer , going to the gym etc. Like I said people have become extra crazy and obsessed continually ranting about the last day of this systems... All this combined with the JW TV crap and of course the major issue of the sexual abuse. Also, there's a real lack of love for our neighbours now, they straight out call them enemies ! To say I began to doubt is an understatement I felt I had made a massive mistake 😫

Im on the mend now I guess but I'm truly exhausted, I have never felt so drained ! Thanks guys. Peace out.

i may be on a diatribe now but something has came back to me tonight.. during my studies i was always told that "silence is compliance".

this would come up whilst i was 'putting on the new personality'.

i would be reminded of possible social situations or associations where if my integrity was at all compromised by someone else's standards -my silence to their un-christian actions would be deemed as compliance.

I may be on a diatribe now but something has came back to me tonight.. During my studies I was always told that "silence is compliance". This would come up whilst I was 'putting on the new personality'. I would be reminded of possible social situations or associations where if my integrity was at all compromised by someone else's standards -my silence to their un-Christian actions would be deemed as compliance. So I cut ties with past friends who would maybe 'drink too much' or 'swear too much' etc, they were not friends worth keeping anyway but that's besides he point. Using that same logic against the society surely that means their SILENCE is COMPLIANCE regarding the investigations into child sexual abuse? Go figure.

Tonight my DL was posted by hand by my husband (a worldly guy). I had the luxury of being at work distracted whilst he posted it. I have been baptised for just over 2 years and studied since 2010. I couldn't take it anymore, not just the zealous dislike/disgust for 'people in the world' (this includes my husband and 99% of my family btw) but the obvious.... The investigations into child sexual abuse. For the last year at least I've felt strange, like it's just me and if I pray my doubts and awkwardness will 'come good and go away'. No, not the case. I could not take to the 'Scientology like' JW tv broadcasting crap. This was a whole world of crazy to me, whilst everyone else was practically worshipping the GB I began to notice the level of indirect hatred towards anyone who is not a witness or associate . Sisters would try and invite me for lunch to watch the latest broadcast and practically Deify these men with their manic applause.I began to squirm in fact die inside especially at comments during the meetings. Comments such as " family members, neighbours, work colleagues are ultimately enemies of Jehovah and will die with this system as they have not accepted Jehovahs will into their lives" or "No matter how nice you think they are, they are not living to Jehovahs standards and are therefore bad association and if you scratch the surface you will discover they are probably racist or thieves". I would watch people I once respected write avidly and nod their heads in agreement whilst humming "hmmmm yes... Great point brother" in response. To put it mildly I have been depressed and anxious, I knew I had to cut all ties. Thankfully I will not lose family over this. I won't waffle on, thank you for this opportunity ! Peace out.
